Ronald Dwayne Wellington, age 80, of Ozark, Missouri and formerly of Maryville, Missouri, was called to heaven on September 8, 2020 from his home in Ozark. His wife, Peggy, and his daughter, Christi, were by his side. He was in hospice care.
Ronald was born March 14, 1940, in Quitman, Missouri to Elmer Hart Wellington and Edith Neal Wellington. Ronald was a graduate of Quitman High School, class of 1958. He married the love of his life, Peggy Newberg, in 1961. He worked in Maryville at Fullerton Lumber, Drake Lumbar, and later Bearcat Lumber before retiring. He was a daily presence at the Wellington Home Daycare in Maryville and played a big role in the lives of many children who attended the daycare over the years. He resided in Northwest Missouri most of his life, except for a few years in Shelby, Iowa in the early 1970’s, and until moving to Ozark, Missouri in 2014.
Ronald was an honest and dependable man. He was a devoted husband to Peggy, proud father of his children and grandchildren, a grandfather-like figure to many babysitting kids over the years at the Wellington Home Daycare, and foster parent to several children. He was a loving and caring brother to his sister, Connie. He enjoyed the Kansas City Chiefs, western movies with a liking for John Wayne films, and cats with a special love for orange tabby cats. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Maryville, Missouri. He was a member of the Pickering, Missouri Lions Club for many years.
Ronald is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Peggy Wellington of Ozark, Missouri; three daughters: Dawn (Andrew of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) Tartaglione, D.O. of Dover, Delaware, Christi Wellington of Ozark, Missouri, Rebecca Wellington, PA-C of Edmond, Oklahoma; son Patrick (Carlie) Wellington of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Karmen, Maddox, and Paxson Wellington of Edmond, Oklahoma; sister: Connie Dunn of Burlington Junction, Missouri; sister-in-law, Barbara Newberg of Ozark, Missouri; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and family from 5-8PM, Friday, October 16, 2020 at Bram Funeral Home in Maryville, Missouri.
Graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Quitman Cemetery, Quitman, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Ronald’s honor be made to the Quitman Cemetery or to the New Nodaway Humane Society.
