Roger A. Vest

Roger Alan Vest, 71, of Maryville, Missouri, passed from this life on Monday, June 10, 2024, at the Nodaway Nursing Home, with his family at his side.

Roger was born in Nevada, Iowa, on February 6, 1953, to Billy Dale and Dorothy June (Masters) Vest. After graduating from West Nodaway High School, Roger attended Iowa State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1975.

After college Roger worked as an auditor for General Mills for several years, then returned to Nodaway County where he expanded his family’s row crop and cattle operation.

On July 16, 1983, Roger was united in marriage to Jayne Beattie at the First Baptist Church in Maryville.

Roger enjoyed playing golf, hunting birds and deer, and snow skiing. He was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, the Skidmore Masonic Lodge, the Nodaway County Cattlemen’s Association, and the Missouri Cattleman’s Association. He served on the United Producers Board of Directors and the Maryville Consumers Oil Board of Directors. He was a member of the Methodist faith.

Roger was an avid sports fan. He grew up cheering for the New York Yankees and collected items related to Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle. Later in life, he became a big fan of the Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats, the Iowa State Cyclones, and the Kansas City Royals. He enjoyed travelling to playoff and bowl games with family and friends. He was often in attendance at his children and grandchildren’s activities.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Clyde Dean Beattie.

He is survived by his wife, Jayne, of the home; children, Mickey (Jessica) Vest, of Skidmore, Missouri, Haleigh (Deven Smith) Vest, Maryville, Missouri; grandchildren, Annabelle, Abigail, and Adeline Vest; sister, Sue Ann (Keith) Wright, Manhattan, Kansas; mother-in-law, Marcia Beattie, Barnard, Missouri, brother-in-law, Wayne (Rhonda) Beattie, Barnard, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Janet (Bryan) Hilsabeck, Barnard, Missouri, and Joanne (Jeff) Rinne, Independence, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Nodaway County Senior Center, 1210 E. 1st St., Maryville, Missouri 64468, or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, PO Box 5014, Hagerstown, Maryland 21741.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Bram Funeral Home in Maryville. The memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the Bram Funeral Home. Interment will be at a later date.

A Masonic Service under the direction of the Nodaway Lodge #470, AF & AM, will be conducted at 4:30 PM, Friday, June 14th, at the funeral home.
