Robert M. Hull

Robert Martin Hull, 92, of Maryville, Missouri, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024, at Nodaway Nursing Home in Maryville.

Bob was born in Lincoln Township, Missouri, on December 8, 1931, to Joseph Edwin and Zelma Darlene (Ecker) Hull.

He grew up in Northboro, Iowa and Clarinda, Iowa, with his parents and his sister, Shirley. He graduated from Clarinda High School in 1949 and attended Northwest Missouri State Teachers College in Maryville for 2 years before entering the U.S. Air Force.

On September 6, 1959, he was united in marriage to LaVonne Roberts, at the First Christian Church, Maryville. They enjoyed nearly 65 years of marriage together before his death.

Bob was co-owner of Hull & Scott Implement in Maryville and was also a longtime farmer in the area.

Bob’s first love was flying airplanes. He soloed at age 17 and held his private pilot’s license until he was 84 years old. He visited every air museum and air show he possibly could and was a regular attendee of the EAA airshow in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He was a member of the Maryville Flying Club and took countless numbers of children and adults on their first flights.

Bob also had a passion for motorcycles that started at a young age when he put a washing machine motor on a bicycle to ride to school. He eventually transitioned to actual motorcycles, including one with a sidecar, and in later years, he rode trikes. He was a member of the 102 Valley Road Riders Motorcycle Club.

Bob leaves behind his wife, LaVonne; his son Steven Hull (Sally Bomar) of Maryville; his daughter, Sheila Nagle (Carl) of Ames, Iowa; his sister, Shirley Scott, Maryville; 6 grandchildren: Brandon, Amber, Camron, Tara, Claire, and Alec; 6 great-grandchildren: Angela, Jason, Annabelle, Atlan, Archer, and Penelope.

Visitation is Tuesday, May 28, 2024, from 5-7 pm at Bram Funeral Home, Maryville.

Funeral services are 1:30 pm, Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Bram Funeral Home, Maryville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee are suggested.
