Randall Lee Hays, 84, of Maryville, MO, passed away on May 6 at home surrounded by his family.
Randy was born on 4/12/40 in Adair County, MO to Eugene T. and Geraldine M. (Truitt) Hays. He attended 8 years of rural schools and graduated from Kirksville High School in 1958. He served 7 years with the Missouri Army National Guard and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal. He worked for many years in retail lumber, then retail candy sales.
He married Emily Jo Crable on 2/15/69 in Kirksville, MO. They moved to Maryville in 1971.
Randy was an avid NASCAR and short track car racing fan, and could be found often on the couch watching any sports on TV. He enjoyed auctions, refinishing antique furniture, and collecting antique glassware.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Geraldine, and his wife, Emily. Survivors include his son Tom (Leila) and grandson, Tyler Hays, of Kingwood, TX. He is also survived by his brother, Eldon (Jo Ellen) of Kirksville, MO, and other family members and friends.
Per his request, there will be no funeral service and his body has been cremated. A private burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Nodaway County Animal Shelter or the American Cancer Society.
