Patricia Rose Schmitz, 80, of Conception Junction, Missouri, passed from this life on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the Maryville Living Center. 

Peachie, as she was known, was born in Maryville, on July 6, 1944, to Paul and Magdalene Schieber. 

On July 6, 1968, she married her soul mate and best friend, Gerald (Smitty) Schmitz. They lived in the Conception Junction area all 56 years of their married life. 

She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1962 and attended college at Yankton South Dakota where she earned her teaching degree. Peachie began her journey as an educator in 1977 where she taught math and business for 2 years and eventually became the school librarian. 

She shared her knowledge with others, emphasizing the importance of reading, for the next 29 years, finally retiring in 2008. 

Peachie was a beloved wife and devoted mom, sister, grandma, great grandma, aunt and teacher. She was a loyal friend to all and leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories. The impact she made in the lives of her family and community will never be forgotten. She had the most loving heart and spent most of her time traveling to sporting events, reading books (Go Away Big Green Monster was a favorite) baking (her cookies and chocolate eclair dessert were the best) and spending quality time rocking and singing to her grandchildren. 

Peachie was preceded in death by her parents, sister Marilyn Jermain, brothers, Jim, Tony and Dennis Schieber, sisters-in-law Rita Schieber and Cleanne Schieber and brothers-in-laws, Dick Henry and Gene Effinger. 

Survivors include her husband, Gerald, of the home, children Julie (Greg) Acklin of Maryville, MO, Keith (Kristy) Schmitz of Maryville, MO, Lori (Dave) Smothers of Kearney, MO, 10 grandchildren, Evan (Sage) and Brylee Acklin, Rachael (Kirby) Luke, Tyler (Ashley) Schmitz, Kayla (Brayden) Welch, Sarah (Riley) Kennedy, Casey (David) Langley, Trevor, Kolby and Megan Smothers. Great grandchildren, Callahan, Emily, Ethan, Kenzie, Lucas, Violet, Everett, Trenton, Hezekiah, Hudson, Obadiah, Bruce and two on the way. Additional survivors include, her brothers Jerry Schieber, Harry (Mary) Schieber, Paul (Susie) Schieber, Ray (Liz) Schieber, Kenny Schieber, sisters, Kate Henry, Liz Effinger, Bernadette (Stephen) Meyer, Diane (Harv) VanNorstrand, brother-in-law, Ray Jermain, and sisters-in-law, Molly Schieber and Diane Schieber, plus many other relatives and friends. 

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 6, 2025, at St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville, Missouri. Burial will follow at St. Columba Cemetery, Conception, MO. 

Parish and family Rosary will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 5:00 pm, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri, followed by a visitation until 7:30 pm, at the Bram Funeral Home. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. 

Memorials are suggested to the St. Columba Catholic Church Parish, Conception Junction, Missouri, or the Jefferson C-123, Educational Foundation.
