Patricia Ellen (O’Riley) Briles, 93, of Maryville, formerly of Creston, IA, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Maryville Living Center.
Pat was born on May 6, 1931, on a farm near Skidmore, MO.
Pat loved music and started playing piano at age 5. She couldn’t read a note! She played by ear. She also loved to dance and play cards with her family and friends.
She attended NWMSC and obtained her teaching certificate. She taught in a one room schoolhouse for one year.
Pat also worked at Sears, Nodaway Valley Bank and Northwest MO State Library in Maryville.
In 1950, she was united in marriage to Lee Bantz. They later divorced.
In 1980, she married Harvey Briles whom she had met in college. They both preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, Sandra (John) Schulte, Maryville, MO, John Bantz, Clarinda, IA, Sandy (Jack, now deceased) Manrose, Kathy (Jerry) Balius, Debbie (Kevin) Glick, Creston, IA, Jeff (Brenda) Briles, Perry, IA, sister, Margaret Merrigan, and sister-in-law, Margie O’Riley, grandchildren, Mike (Leisa) Schulte, Alan (Lesley) Schulte, Jennifer (Travis) Lang, Christi (Sylvester) Tapia, Scott (Natalie) Bantz, great grandchildren, Kade Owens, Kylee Lang, Ava Lang, Ella Schulte, Max Schulte, Ellie Bantz, Niko and Stella Tapia. 2 step grandchildren, Samantha (John) Mires Baker, Brittany (Pat) Emery, and many nieces, nephews, and many dear friends she leaves behind.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis P. O’Riley, Margaret (Linville) O’Riley, infant son, Michael Joseph Bantz, her siblings, Robert O’Riley, Phillip O’Riley, Mary Growney, Fred O’Riley, Bill O’Riley, Paul O’Riley, her great-grandson, Trevor Lang, step-grandson, Shawn Manrose, and husbands, Lee Bantz and Harvey Briles.
Pat has been cremated under the care of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.
The parish and family rosary will be at 4:30 PM, on Friday, July 12, 2024, the visitation will continue until 7:00 PM, at St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville, MO.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM, on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Maryville Living Center, for beautification of the grounds.
