Michael E. “Mike” Jones, 66, of Maryville, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at the North Kansas City Hospital.
Mike was born in Maryville, on January 24, 1958, to Forrest L. and Jessie (Long) Jones-Smith. Mike lived in the area all his life. He graduated from Nodaway-Holt High School in Graham, in 1976.
Mike was a truck driver all his life and was very passionate about it. After graduation his first job was with Swede's Redi-Mix Concrete, he also drove over the road for Opies, Eldon, MO, he hauled many loads of steel even clear out to New Jersey for LMP, Maryville, MO, he hauled a lot of corn out of Coop to Kansas City, he worked many years for JRS Unlimited, St. Joseph, MO and drove for so many local farming operations that took him all over the state. When he wasn’t driving he was out polishing his truck.
He loved the open road and the occasional casino stops. There was never a time he wasn't truckin. He liked farming, agriculture, and hauling farm products. Most of all Mike loved his kids and grandkids. It was never a dull moment with Mike... Whoop Whoop, Dad!
His father, Forrest L. Jones preceded him in death.
He leaves behind his kids, Ryan (Niki) Jones, Kansas City, Missouri, Haily (Josh) Randall, Skidmore, Missouri, Hanna Strough, Maryville, Missouri, Austin (Tessa) Jones, Burlington Junction, Missouri, and Nathan Stevens, Michigan, his mother, Jessie Jones-Smith (Richard), Maryville, Missouri, his siblings, Frances Jones, Maryville, Missouri, Cindy Kenny, Maitland, Missouri, Randy (Sarah) Jones, Mansfield, Arkansas, and LaWanda (Steve) Merrigan, Maryville, Missouri, 10 grandchildren, Colby, Gracyn, Skyler, Ethan, Brooklyn, Taylor, Chloe, Brayden, Kelli, and Paisley, 1 great granddaughter, Mollie Faye, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri. The burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Skidmore, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., on Monday, May 6, 2024, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial can be directed to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
