Maryann Ceckowski

Maryann Ceckowski, 81, of Maryville, MO, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at the SSM/St. Francis Hospital, Maryville.

Maryann was born in Westfield, MA, on December 5, 1936.  She had resided in Maryville the past 8 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Mary (Sadlo) Baldyga.

She was a proud Marine Corps wife who was united in marriage to Joseph A. Ceckowski, Jr. in Springfield, MA, who preceded her in death in 2001 after 46 years of marriage.  She was a loving wife, homemaker, mother, and grandmother (Nanny).

Maryann (affectionately known as “The Hat Lady”) was an active member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Maryville who often helped with funeral dinners at the church.  She volunteered at Our Lady of Rickenbach Convent, Clyde, MO, using her gift as a hairdresser to cut hair for the sisters for the past 12 years.  She also volunteered at the Conception Abbey, Conception, MO, where she had been the interior decorator for many remodeling projects over the years.

She loved to entertain, cook, play cards, work puzzles, garden, can pickles fruits and vegetables, fish, and shop for bargains.  She was a talented seamstress and decorator.

She is survived by her three children, Karen Ceckowski, Maryville, MO; Kevin (Robert Christie), Arlington, VA; and Kathy (Michael) Rigo, Oak Hill, VA; two grandchildren, Maryann and Louis Rigo; her “Little Buddy” Bichon Friese, Seamus, who she tirelessly cared for and treasured; and her church family.

Mrs. Ceckowski was cremated and her interment will be in the Spring at Arlington National Cemetery.  Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 17, 2018, at the St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Maryville.  A reception will follow the Mass in the church hall.  The family requests that attendees wear something white in celebration of her life.
