Margaret Elizabeth Stiens, 89, of Maryville, Missouri, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Mosiac Medical Center, Maryville, with family at her side.
Margaret was born near Barnard, Missouri, on September 9, 1935, to Clifton M. and Mary H. (Schieber) Mattson. She graduated from Conception High School and lived all her life in the area.
On April 23, 1955, at the Immaculate Conception Basilica, Conception, Missouri, Margaret was united in marriage to Paul E. Stiens, and he survives of the home.
Margaret loved to play cards, she cooked, canned and made jelly and processed many chickens over the years. She had delivered Meals On Wheels for over 20 years at the Senior Center in Maryville.
She was a member and attended St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville, where she was in the Altar Society, and had sung in the church choir. She was also in the Rockford Club.
Her parents preceded her in death, also her daughter, Diane Marie Stiens, in 1957. She was also preceded by her siblings, Mary Mildred Huber, Sr. Mathilda Mattson OSB, Joe Mattson, Agatha Malson, Leo Benedict Mattson, Norbert Mattson, and her son-in-law, Harlan Allen and granddaughter, Brenda Allen.
She is survived by her husband, Paul E. Stiens, of the home, her children, Debbie Allen, Maryville, Missouri, Paul Stiens Jr., Maryville, Missouri, Peggy (Larry) Wilmes, Ravenwood, Missouri, Mary Ellen (Steve) Mathiot, St. Joseph, Missouri, and Clifton Stiens, Graham, Missouri. Her siblings, Tillie (Leo) Perkins, Kansas City, Missouri, Charles Mattson, Conception, Missouri, and Lois Gockel, Maryville, Missouri. 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville, Missouri. The burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Maryville, Missouri.
There will be a parish and family Rosary at 5:00 PM, Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the church, and the visitation will follow until 7:00 PM.
Services are under the direction of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri.
