Marcalene Stubbs

Marcalene (Marsha) Stubbs, age 84, of Maryville, Missouri, passed away on a beautiful sunny day, September 16, 2024. She was born on September 17, 1940, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Hugh Massey and Maxine Stafford. 

At the age of 9 years old, Marcalene and sisters, Shelby Jean, Marylin and Juanita Massey were given the wonderful gift of growing up in the Presbyterian Home for Children in Monticello, Arkansas. She often shared many special and funny memories with her family and anyone else who would listen, of her time at the home. She would continually say “I’ve lived a great life at the home, I got an education and learned some manners”. She graduated from Monticello High School before moving on to the next journey of her life. 

She was an avid bowler, loved to crochet, was an avid reader, loved to play dominoes, spider-solitaire, playing cards and spending countless hours with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. and listening to the “Great Elvis Presley” was a must around family. 

She is survived by her sons, Rick (Christine) Courtney, Samuel IV (Jennifer) Stubbs, daughter, Diane (Liz) Courtney, Dana Poe, and niece Celestia (Randy) Stout. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tosha (Jess) Tuzon, Lindsay (Daniel) Singelton, Dylan Krzyzopolski, Jacob (Elizabeth) Watson, Jordun Baggett, Dakota Watson, Cory (Brianna) Rosenbohm, Benjamin Stubbs and Kohana Stubbs. She was also blessed with great grandchildren, Lilly Singelton, Naila Tuzon and Ava Tuzon, she is also survived by other family and friends. 

Marcalene is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Stubbs III, her parents, three sisters, Shelby Jean, Marylin and Juanita, and one brother, Ricky Young. 

Marcalene has been cremated under the care of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri 

Marcalene (Granny) will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew her, but we are comforted by in knowing she is together again with Sam and her sisters and beloved, loyal dog “Tucker”, whom she has dearly missed for many years.
