LeRoy Mitchell Coffelt, 77, of Ravenwood, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph.
LeRoy was born in Maryville, on May 20, 1947, to Wayne L. and Margaret L. (Ray) Coffelt, he graduated from Ravenwood High School and had attended the University of Missouri/Columbia. He was drafted into the US Army and proudly served his Country during the Vietnam War. He celebrated his 21st birthday in an Army hospital there and was presented with a Purple Heart Medal and 2 Bronze Stars for his actions.
LeRoy farmed all his adult life. He had also worked for several years at Laclede Chain, and at Northwest Missouri State University. He also worked at the Maryville Treatment Center. He was a former member of the Ravenwood Christian Church. His memberships included the American Legion Post 100, Maryville. LeRoy liked his farm and farm life. He especially liked his livestock and had raised hogs for many years, and still maintained a cattle herd. He read and liked Louis L’Amour western books, and he also enjoyed watching westerns on TV. He enjoyed baseball and the St. Louis Cardinals, and softball.
His parents preceded him in death, and his daughter, Amy Coffelt, his brother, Tim Coffelt, and his sister-in-law, Reva Zimmerman.
On December 2, 1991, in Savannah, Missouri, LeRoy married Donita D. Hilsenbeck, and she survives of the home.
Other survivors include his children, Shellie Coffelt, Skidmore, Chad (Tanya) Dragoo, Conception, Erin Dragoo, Kansas City, and Philip Spease, Lexington, MO, his siblings, Gary (Judy) Coffelt, Maryville, Gail (Ed) Owens, Savannah, his sister-in-laws, Norma Redford, Maryville, Geri Parker, Conception Junction, Kathy Graff, Kansas City, and Elaine Coffelt, Ravenwood, 7 grandkids, Destiny Dragoo, James Chesnut, Michael (Brylie) Abrams, Brennan Dragoo, Kaiston Abrams, Lane Woods, and Courtney Woods, 1 great grandchild, Brookelyn Abrams, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services will be at 10:00 AM, on Friday, November 8, 2024, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri. The burial, with Military Honors, will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Maryville, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at the Bram Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the American Legion Post 528, Parnell, Missouri.
