Larry W. Leivan

Larry W. Leivan, 81, of Maryville, Missouri, and formerly of Clearmont, Missouri, passed away at Mosaic in St. Joseph, on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, with family at his side.

Larry was born in Worth County, Missouri, on November 2, 1942.  His parents were Arthur Lewis and Mary (Yates) Leivan, and they preceded him in death.  He was also preceded by his daughter, Melinda Cowan, 2 granddaughters, Katie Cowan, and Courtney Leivan, and his siblings, Ray Leivan, and Juanita Middleton.

On December 10, 1961, Larry married Sharon Kay Hall, in Bedford, Iowa.

He worked construction and had retired from the Chicago/Northwestern Railroad.  He was also a railroad Union Rep. for the BNSF.

He and Sharon had lived in Trenton, Missouri, and Grant City, Missouri, for many years in Clearmont, Missouri, and Maryville, Missouri.

He was a member of the Royal Ranger youth ministry group, also the Boy Scouts of America, and the Tribe of Mic-O-Say in the scouts.

He loved the outdoors and teaching his kids to hunt and fish. He gardened, liked to shoot pool, and didn’t mind honky tonking and partying with family, friends and co-workers.  He especially liked to visit, and family reunions and get togethers.

His wife Sharon survives of the home in Maryville.  He is also survived by his children, Sherry (Jack) Shackelford, Chillicothe, Missouri, Larry Bill Leivan, St. Joseph, Missouri, David Arther (Pam) Leivan, Shenandoah, Iowa, Betty (Michelle Jones) Leivan, Maryville, Missouri, Lanny Ray (Sondra) Leivan, Maryville, Missouri, and Steven (Serenity) Leivan, Polo, Missouri.  His siblings, Irene Leivan, St. Joseph, Missouri, Sharon (Dean) Hall, Pueblo, Colorado, and Neal (Martha) Leivan, Clarksdale, Missouri.  16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry has been cremated under the care of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM, on Friday, January 19, 2023, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri.  The burial will be at a later date in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Clearmont, Missouri.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Memorials are suggested in Larry’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, and can be sent to 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
