John Leo “Jack” Stiens, 81, of Maryville MO, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2017, in St. Joseph, MO. Born September 8, 1936, John farmed and lived on the Stiens family farm that was established in 1912 by his grandfather.
John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth Jean Auer Stiens; children, Kirby (Rosemary) Stiens, Alan Stiens (Dee Marriott), Rhonda (Craig) Bernard, and Jennifer Oliver (Kregg Rahn); grandchildren, Ryan (Kayla) Stiens, Jordan, Jessa, and Derek Stiens, Brieann, Cole and Cassidy Stiens, Savannah, Jonathon, and Andrew Bernard, Dylan Oliver and Logan Rahn; great-grandchildren, Rylee and Jack Stiens. Also survived by siblings, Jim (Della) Stiens, Dorothy Miller, and countless nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anna Stiens; siblings, William Stiens, Doris Porter, Mary Tobin, Richard Stiens, and son in law Chad Oliver.
John had an infectious smile and an uncanny comedic timing for storytelling and jokes. We will all miss his sense of humor and ability to make us laugh.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at the St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Maryville, MO.
Visitation will start at 5:30 PM, on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at St. Gregory’s. Where the parish prayer service will be at 7:00 PM. Then visitation will continue after the prayer service.
Inurnment will be at the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Maryville, MO
The Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO, is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, John requested donations be made to St. Gregory’s Cemetery Fund, or St. Gregory’s Catholic School, Maryville, MO
