Frederick D. Holtman

Frederick Dale “Fred” Holtman, 68, of Conception Junction, Missouri, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Mosiac Life Care in St. Joseph, with family at his side.

Fred was born in Maryville, Missouri on April 3, 1956, to Lawrence H. and Pauline F. (Bliley) Holtman.  He lived his entire life in the area, graduating from Jefferson C-123 High School in 1974.  He was a self-employed mechanic and farmer, dedicating his life to his work and community.

He was a devoted member of the St. Columba Catholic Church in Conception Junction.  Fred also served as a member and past Chief of the Tri-C Volunteer Fire Department and was also a charter member of the Sons of the American Legion, Squadron #464.

Fred found joy in riding his side by side, teasing his grandkids, and telling a good story. He had a knack for tinkering and enjoyed helping friends and neighbors with various projects.  He loved socializing and would often humor his family by playing cards with them.  Fred also had a fondness for his cows, long after he turned the reigns over to his sons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Pauline, his siblings, brothers, Robert, Ronnie, and John, as well as his in-laws, Larry Shackelford, Carolyn (Luke) Holtman, Dennis Schieber, and Jerry Wilmes.

On April 1, 1978, Fred was united in marriage to Nancy Ellen Schwebach at the St. Columba Catholic Church, Conception Junction, Missouri. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his children, Bridget (TJ) Kenny, of Maryville, Holly (Nathan) Steffes, of Raymore, Missouri, Mitchell (Keisha) Holtman, of Conception Junction, and Colton (Jenice) Holtman, Stanberry.  He is also survived by his siblings, Shirley Shackelford, Edward (Judy) Holtman, Jim Holtman, Richard (Carolyn) Holtman, Carolyn (Pat) Sturm, Diane Schieber, Ted (Brenda) Holtman, and Rose (DJ) Jensen, his sister-in-law, Clarice (Maurice) Schuetz, other in-laws, Janet Wilmes, Dale (Sheila) Schwebach, and Betty (Ronnie) Ginther, his 8 grandchildren, Laney and Janey Steffes, Landon, Leah, Rowan and Rylee Holtman, and Grayson and Barrett Holtman, and many nieces and nephews.

A parish and family Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM, on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the St. Columba Catholic Church in Conception Junction, with visitation following until 8:00 PM.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM, on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at St. Columba.  Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery, Conception, Missouri.

Services are under the direction of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri.

Memorials are suggested to the Tri-C Volunteer Fire Department, Conception Junction, Missouri.

Fred will be remembered for his generous spirit, love of any and all babies, and dedication to his community.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
