Edward G. "Ed" Long

Edward G. “Ed” Long, 59, of Maitland, MO, passed away Saturday evening, May 6, 2017, at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO.

Ed was born on January 17, 1958, in St. Joseph, MO. His parents were Clarence G. and Ruth V. (Ellison) Long, and preceded him in death.  He was also preceded by 2 bothers and their wives, Carol and JoAnn Long, and Lowell and Pat Long, and his brother in law, Charles Tharp.

Ed graduated from Nodaway-Holt R-VII High School in 1976. He then proudly served his country in the US Marines.  He was stationed as an MP at a base near San Diego, CA.  He lived most all his life in the area.

He was of the Baptist faith. He was a former Boy Scout, and a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say in the scouts.  Ed was a farm hand all his life.

He is survived by his sister, Judy Tharp, Dardanelle, AR, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. Military rites will follow the service at the funeral home.

The family will receive friend from 6-8:00 PM, Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at the funeral home.

His body will be cremated after the services, and inurnment will be later at the Maitland Cemetery, Maitland, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family to help with final expenses.
