Charles Thomas Anderla, 83, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Oak Pointe Assisted Living Facility in Maryville. Charles was born on September 11, 1941, to Alvin and Marie (Petersen) Anderla in Menominee, Michigan. They both preceded him in death.
Charles graduated from high school early to begin his career as a typesetter for a newspaper. After a couple of years, he enlisted in the US Army where he served 2 ½ of his three years in Germany. After returning, he continued his career as a typesetter for various newspapers. It was during this time he married Judith (Yelland) Anderla. She preceded him in death in 1993. He later married Linda (Menzemer) Anderla. She preceded him in death in 2022. He is also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tessa Marie Anderla.
Charles also became a graphic arts instructor earning his bachelor’s and master’s degree from Northern Michigan University. His teaching career brought him to many different locations including Northwest Missouri State University and finally retiring at University of Wisconsin-Stout.
Charles is survived by his children, Connie (James) Teaney, Michael (Jacque) Anderla, David (Jeana) Menzemer, Jarrid (Alice) Menzemer, his brothers John (Bianca) Anderla, Jim (Patricia) Anderla; grandchildren, Jackie Olson, Sarah (Colton) Hertzog, Katie (Matt) Marchio, Kylee and Kirby Anderla, Max, Luke, and Cody Menzemer, Brianna (Symon) Turner; great grandchildren, Sklar, Jax, Bailey, Bennett, Brea, Mason, Archer and Justin.
Mr. Anderla has been cremated under the care of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri.
A memorial service will be held at a later time this summer in Menominee, Michigan.
