Carolyn C. Henry, 88, Kansas City, Missouri, and formerly of Maryville, Missouri, died March 25 at Primrose Retirement Community, Kansas City, Missouri
Carolyn was a public-school teacher, retiring in 1995 from the Maryville, MO, School District where she taught for 22 years at Washington Middle School. In addition, she previously held teaching positions in rural Johnson County Nebraska; Cook, Nebraska; Auburn, Nebraska; Lexington, Kentucky; and Lawrence, Kansas.
She was born on Dec. 2, 1935, in Johnson County Nebraska, to Arthur and Anna Deubler Schacht, who both preceded her in death, as did her older sister Marcella Schacht Konig. Carolyn was baptized, confirmed and married at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ (Osage) near Cook, Nebraska.
A graduate of Tecumseh (Nebraska) High School, she holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Peru (Nebraska) State College (1958) and a master’s degree in education with certification in school administration from Northwest Missouri State University (1972).
On Aug. 3, 1958, Carolyn was united in marriage to Robert M. Henry. To this union three children were born. They include Ann Henry Stough Bertoldie and husband Forrest, Kansas City, MO; Mark Henry and his wife, Barb, Kansas City, MO; and Kirk Henry and his wife, Kelly, Kansas City, MO. Grandchildren include Robert Stough, Independence, MO; Kathleen Stough, Kansas City, MO; Will (Morgan) Henry, Parkville,
MO; Blake Henry, Kansas City, MO; and Connor, Molly, and Collin Henry, all of Kansas City, MO.
Carolyn was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Maryville, Missouri, where she served as an organist. For more than 20 years she accompanied high school students participating in vocal and instrumental performances. In addition, she served on the Board of Trustees of the Maryville Public Library. She was also a member of PEO
Chapter HT.
Mrs. Henry has been cremated under the care of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri.
A public memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Hope Lutheran Church or to the Maryville Public Library.
