Carl E. Montgomery

Carl E. Montgomery, 81, of Maryville, MO, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at the Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville.

Carl was born in Skidmore, MO, on November 9, 1942, to James E. and Anna B. (Morton) Montgomery.  They preceded him in death.  He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Kenny Schafer, in 2008.

Carl graduated from Skidmore High School in 1962.  He retired from Eveready Battery in Maryville and had driven the school bus for many years for the Nodaway-Holt R-VII School District.

He was a former member of the Skidmore Christian Church, and the Elks Lodge, Maryville.  He liked to fish and was pretty good at smoking meat.

His survivors include his children, Toni Schafer, Maryville, MO, Terri (Bob) Lager, Maryville, MO, Jackie Moore, Maryville, MO, and son in law, Dave Moore, St. Joseph, MO, his grandchildren, Trevor (Kennedy) Schafer, Mason Schafer, Shelby (Tannah) Lager, Fritz Lager, and Anna Lager, Natascha (Drew) Steinman, Austin (Amanda) Brown, 2 great grandchildren, Creed Schafer, and Hesston Lager.

The family will receive friends from 4-6:00 PM, on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, on Monday, November 20, 2023, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.  The burial will follow in the Groves Cemetery, Skidmore, MO.
