Clarence R “Bob” Bagby 92 of Sunrise Beach, MO, died on Tuesday November 21, 2023, at St Mary’s Hospital, Jefferson City, MO.
Bob was born in Maryville, MO, on September 9, 1931, to Elmer C. and Bertha (Merrigan) Bagby.
He attended St. Patrick’s School, Horace Mann and graduated for Maryville High School. He was a graduate of Wichita State University. He served his Country in the United States Air Force.
In June of 1961, Bob and his brother Jim took over the family business, Bagby Motors in Maryville. The Bagby brothers proudly owned and operated the business until 2001. Bob retired from Bagby Motors in 1996 and moved to Sunrise Beach and had worked part time at Lowes.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother James “Jim“ Bagby.
Bob attended Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Ozarks, MO, and formerly attended St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville. He was a Director of the Missouri Automobile Dealers Association, a member of Knights of Columbus, Elks, Lions, American Legion, the Maryville Chamber of Commerce, Maryville Planning and Zoning Board and was an Avid golfer at the Maryville Country Club.
On December 28, 1953, Bob was United in marriage to Catherine “Kitty“ Clothier Bagby of Lincoln, NE, she survives of the home.
Other survivors include his children, son, Christopher (Johnia) Bagby and their son Matthew Bagby of Leawood, KS, daughter, Deborah Bagby Dovel, Village of Four Seasons, MO, and her children, Whitney Hayes, Hamburg, IA, Zachary (Amanda) Dovel Nebraska City , NE, Jacob (Paige) Jones, Hamburg, IA, Dakota (Derrin) Dovel, Glenwood, IA, and Hailee (Levi) Kehr, Russellville, MO, his sister-in-law Patty Bagby, and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his 16 great grandchildren: Hayden Schalk, Camdyn, Maleah and Sloan Hayes. Malikye, Layla and Aniyah Dovel, Cash, Brynna and Navey Jones, Lane and Walker Dovel, Kinsley Kehr, Weston Kennedy, Axton Kehr, and Mylah Kehr.
Bob has been cremated under the care of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 2, 2023, at the St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville, MO. Military Rites will be conducted at the conclusion of the Mass at the church.
There will be a parish and family Rosary at the Church on Saturday starting at 9:30 AM, and the visitation will follow until service time.
Bob will be buried at a later date in the Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, Lincoln, NE.
Memorials are suggested in Bob’s name to help with new priest’s educational costs, c/o Conception Abbey, 37174 State Hwy VV, Conception, MO 64433.
