Betty Joan Livengood-Sloan

Betty “Joan” Livengood Sloan, 87, passed away May 1, 2018 at Laverna Village of St. Joseph in St. Joseph, MO. Joan was born in Elmo, MO to parents, Dana Carpenter and Pearl Elvira (Goodwin) Carpenter, who have preceded her in death.

Joan is a 1949 graduate of Elmo High School. She was married to Lynn Stanley Livengood who passed away in September 1994. She later married John Sloan who also preceded her in death in 2009. She previously worked at Younger Oil Company, MFA, and had worked for Dr. Marvin Ford in Elmo, MO for 20 years. She was a lifelong resident of the area.

She is preceded in death by her Brothers: Charlie Carpenter; Landis Carpenter; Galen Carpenter; Byron Carpenter; Wendall Wayne Carpenter; Doyle Carpenter, Calvin Carpenter and sisters: Wilma Hunter; Velma Carpenter; Minnie Lee Carpenter; Dorothy Burch, and Lois Everhart.

Survivors include four children: Roger Livengood (Becky Jones), Tarkio, MO; Sharlys (Skip) Olson, St. Joseph, MO; Sharyn (Troy) Clark, Yorktown, IA; Lee Ann (Randy) Albertson, Graham, MO; and stepchildren: Jerry, Janet, and Judy. Six sister-in-laws: Marie Twaddle, Maryville MO; Joyce Livengood, Tarkio, MO; Connie (Gary) Marriott, Clarinda, IA. Bonnie Carpenter, Shenandoah, IA; Rosie Carpenter, Maryville, MO; Stella Carpenter, Kansas City, MO; Nine Grandchildren: Dana (Julie) Livengood, Burlington Junction, MO; Curt (Carrie) Livengood, Tarkio, MO; Doug (Linda) Olson, Savannah, MO; Jeremy (Tina) Olson, St. Joseph, MO; Beth (Kory) Nelson, Burlington Juction, MO; Richard Clark, Yorktown, IA; Coddy (Danie Blake) Clark, Yorktown, IA; and Devin (Andrea Muller) Albertson, Maryville, MO; Nicole Albertson, Maryville, MO; Eleven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends, Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home in Maryville, MO.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 4, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Lamar Cemetery in Elmo, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to United Methodist Church of Burlington Junction.
