Alfred Eugene Jones, 88, of Maryville, died Friday, March 28, 2025, at Mosaic Life Care at St. Joseph.
He was born April 15, 1936, to Ralph and Gladys (Horn) Jones in Maryville and was a 1954 graduate of Maryville High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1960, stationed in Germany. On July 1, 1972, he married Mary Anne Prawitz in St. Joseph.
Over the years, Alfred hauled gas for Consumers Oil Co., managed the Walter Bros. gas station in Maryville and farmed with his brother Dick. He loved John Deere tractors, first collecting and restoring antique tractors to pull, then switching to toy and pedal tractors in retirement. He looked forward to yearly trips to the Old Thresher’s Reunion in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and the National Farm Toy Show in Dyersville, Iowa. Alfred also enjoyed fishing and camping and trips to see the elk in Estes Park, Colo., every fall. He took great pride in his yard.
Alfred is preceded in death by his parents; brother Dick; sister-in-law Jewell Jones; niece Sherry Wray; and nephew Dennis Jones.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Anne; three children, Bob (Lynn) of Kansas City, Jim (Deb) of Longmont, Colo., and Joni (Colin) McDonough of Maryville; seven grandchildren, Austin, Bryan and TJ Jones; Cathrine and Dylan Jones; and Dalton and Graham McDonough; two brothers Stanley (Cheryl) and Rick (Cindy); two sisters-in-law, Carol Wilson and Roberta (Daniel) Seevers; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at the Nodaway Memorial Gardens, Maryville, Missouri
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 PM, on Monday, March 31, 2025, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri.
