Dwight Dozier

Dwight Dozier 90, of Barnard, MO, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010 at his home in Barnard. He was born on September 11, 1920 in Forrest City, MO, and except for his time in the military was a lifelong resident of the area.

His parents were Charlie and Blanche Grimm Dozier, and preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Shaiffer and Polly Trafton.

Dwight was a Corporal in the U.S. Army during WW II, and was with the 144th Calvary Recon. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Barnard, MO. He was also a member and past Worshipful Master of the Savannah Missouri Masonic Lodge #71, AF & AM, the Scottish Rite Bodies and the Moila Shrine Temple, both of St. Joseph, MO., the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 3669, Maryville, the 40 + 8, and the O’Howell-Strater, American Legion Post #102, Barnard, MO.

Dwight was a salesman for Martin-Marietta for many years. He traveled Missouri and Kansas and retired in 1984.

Dwight and Shonette Hutsenpiller were married on December 26, 1944 in Bennettsville, S.C., she survives of the home in Barnard. Other survivors include their son, Paul (Donna) Dozier, Memphis, TN, granddaughter, Shelby Dozier, also of Memphis, TN., two brothers, Roy Dale (Mildred) Dozier, Hutchinson, KS, and Wayne (Janet) Dozier, St. Joseph, MO. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services and burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at the the National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. The visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M. Monday evening at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.

Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church, Barnard, MO.
