Juanita Bennett 88, of Maryville, MO. passed away on March 5, 2010, at her home in Maryville, Missouri, with her loving family at her side.

Juanita, or “Grandma B” as she was known, was born on May 23, 1921 in Roosevelt, OK to Walter C. and Ola Richey Baldock. In 1938 the family moved to Texico, NM, where she graduated high school in 1940.

On February 12, 1941, she married Gordon Bennett in Texico. They later moved to Oklahoma where their four children were born. Gordon, a flight instructor during World War II, passed away on January 25, 1955.

In 1956, Juanita and her children moved to Ft. Sumner, NM. Until 1994 she owned and operated her own beauty shop and raised her children. She served two terms as the probate judge for De Baca County. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist faith, and moved to Maryville in 1998.

Besides her parents and husband, Juanita was also preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Opal Campbell, her granddaughter, Jennifer Bennett Borrego, and by two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include her daughters, Charlette (Dennis) Bratcher, Gilbert, AZ, Cindie (Jim) Hansen, Conception Junction, MO, her son, Orvil (Merry Ann) Bennett, Pueblo, CO, her brothers, Walter Baldock, Clovis, N.M., and Gerald Baldock. Los Lunas, New Mexico. She is also survived by grandsons, Gordon and Larry Matlock, Eric and Shaun Bennett, and Eli and Kye Hansen, and her granddaughter, Chanel Hansen. She is also survived by five great granddaughters, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the Bram Funeral Home The burial will be in the American Legion Cemetery, Barnard, MO. Elder Kobee Trueblood will be the officiant. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
