Maitland - Clifford Raymond "Ray" Sportsman, 76, of Maitland, passed from this life on Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at his home.

Born on January 1, 1931 in Hamburg, Iowa, he was the son of the late John Ermal & Goldie Ruth (Collins) Sportsman. He is preceded in death by his wife, Edith Irene (Murphy) Sportsman.

He was a Veteran in the US Army serving in Korea. He was a member of the Maitland United Methodist Church and the Maitland-Graham American Legion Post 256.

He was a retired plumber.

He is survived by his loving children, Katherine Irene Rowlett, Maitland, Debra Diane Sportsman, Maitland, John Bradley Sportsman and wife Debbie, Maitland, loving sisters, Dorothy Morin, Brookfield, MO and Mary Ann Linville, Graham, MO, 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Edith, sons, Dennis, David, & Jerry Sportsman, brothers, Junior Ermal Sportsman, Robert "Bobby" Sportsman, and Kenneth Leroy Sportsman.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, August 10, 2007 at the Danfelt Funeral Home, 951 S. Main Street, Maryville, MO 64468 with the Rev. Connie Ury, Officiating. Final Resting Place will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery, Graham with military honors under the auspices of the Missouri Military Honors.

The family will receive friends at the Danfelt Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. Friends may call at the funeral home anytime after 9 AM Thursday. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of NW Missouri.
