Lawrence Leland Kneale

Maitland - Lawrence Leland Kneale, 75, of Maitland, passed from this life on Friday, August 11, 2006 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on November 15, 1930 in Maitland, Missouri he was the son of the late Edgar & Alma (Sanders) Kneale.

He attended a country school and later transferred to Maitland High School were he graduated in 1949. He attended Northwest Missouri State College before joining the Marines in 1950. On April 12, 1952 he married Peggy Sue Cole of Maitland. He received a honorable discharge from the Marine Corps in 1952, National Guard in 1953 and the Army in 1961 after being stationed at Fort Leonard Wood and bases in Germany.

He was a farmer and cattle rancher. He worked as a ring master at the Merrigan Sale Barn, Maryville Sale Barn and Oregon Sale Barn. He was also part of the KND Grain Co. of Skidmore and later the Nodaway Valley Transport Company. After retiring in 1998 he started working at Walmart in the produce department.

He attended the Maitland United Methodist Church and was a member of the American Legion. He was a supporter of the Missouri High School Rodeo and the Little Britches Rode Associations. His greatest joy was to be with his daughters and grandchildren. He organized a family barbecue every Saturday which was the highlight of his week.

He is survived by his beloved wife Peggy Sue (Cole) Kneale, loving daughters, Dee Wallace and husband Bill, grandchildren, Josh Sharp and wife Megan, Kelsey Wallace of Maitland. Michele (Shelley) Rosenbohm and husband Kevin and grandchildren, Matt Rosenbohm, Nick Rosebohm, of Graham. Lisa Shipps and husband Joe, grandchildren, Brittany Shipps, Sam Shipps of Maitland, Melinda Holstine and husband Jeff and grandchildren Hunter and Riley Hostine of Mound City, MO, a sister, Lois Derr, Maitland with many nieces and nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leonard & Loyd Kneale.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at 10 A.M. on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at the Maitland United Methodist Church with Rev. Connie Ury, officiating. Final resting place with military honors will be held at the Maitland Cemetery.
