Joann Marion

JoAnn Stamm Marion 69, of Maryville, MO., passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 16, 2009, at the St. Francis Hospital in Maryville with her loving husband at her side.

JoAnn was born on January 30, 1940 in Oakland, NE, to Allan and Vivian Carlson Stamm. They preceded her in death.

A former resident of Lincoln, NE, she had resided in Maryville since 1968.

With a love for teaching, Miss Stamm, as she was known by many former students, taught for seven years at the Pershing Elementary School in Lincoln, NE, and then for 37 years in Maryville at the Horace Mann Lab School. She was also a former Associate Professor at NWMSU.

JoAnn was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Maryville, and had belonged to several teacher organizations prior to her retirement. She had taught the 3-4 year old Sunday school class at the church, was involved with the “COOL” Kids program. She had also done tutoring at the Christian School in Maryville.

On October 27, 1978 she married Dr. L. Marvin Marion in Maryville, MO. He survives of the home.

Others survivors include first cousins, OraLee and Merle Oleson, Lee’s Summit, MO, Shirley and Roger Schutte, Springfield, MO, Clair and Mary Ann Fredstrom, Lincoln, NE, Ardis Fredstrom, Lincoln, NE, and other cousins.

Her funeral services will be at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, April 19, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church, burial will be in the Miriam Cemetery, both of Maryville. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services. The Rev. Tom Sullenger, and Rev. Marjean Ehlers will be officiating. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Saturday, with a visitation from 6-8:00 P.M. Saturday, April 18, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville.
