Hopkins - Gale Forrest "Hoover" McKee, 84, of Hopkins passed from this life on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at the Kansas City Hospice House.
Born on September 7, 1924 in Pickering, MO he was the son of the late Charley & Beryl M. (McGinness) McKee.
He was a Veteran serving in the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion Post 288 Hopkins and the Masonic Lodge #50 Xenia Lodge.
He was a farmer most of his life.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Betty J. (Smith) McKee, whom he married on March 14, 1947, his loving son, Mike McKee & wife Teresa, Hopkins, grandchildren, Kathryn Wray & husband, Danny, Pickering, Kyle McKee, New Market, IA, Klinton McKee, Hopkins, great grandchildren, Brycelynn & Alanis Wray, a sister, Opal Youell, Maryville. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Loren McKee and Earl McKee, sisters, Hazel Farrell, Thelma Wake and Helen Simmons.
Mr. McKee has been cremated under the trusted care of the Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the First Baptist Church, Hopkins, MO with Pastor John Scarbrough, Officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
There will be no visitation. The family has requested memorial donations to Kansas City Hospice. The family will be gathering at Katie & Danny Wray's home.
