Peter B. “Pete” Poole 70, Maryville, MO., passed away Saturday, July 12, 2008, in St. Joseph, MO.

Born August 8, 1937, in Cranston, R.I. Pete had formerly resided in Summerset, MA., Kansas City, MO., St. Joseph, MO., moving to Maryville in 2002.

Pete was a member of the Dighton Community Church, Dighton, MA. He attended the First Presbyterian Church, Maryville. He was a member of the Tri-C Memorial American Legion Post 464, Conception Junction, MO. He graduated from the Summerset MA. High School, class of 1955.

Pete spent over 23 years in the Military. Nine in the U.S. Air Force, and twelve in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant E-6. He retired as a U.S. Army Recruiter, and always met his recruitment quota. He had received many honors for this accomplishment. He was a heavy equipment operator, and had delivered new Altec Trucks for the Spirit Miller Co,. St. Joseph. Recently he had been working in Security at St. Jo Frontier Casino, St. Joseph. Pete also volunteered for the Midland Empire Chapter of the American Red Cross, and had driven “Henry’s Kitchen” to many disasters. He and Nancy had volunteered at the Grand Oak Assembly, Chillicothe, MO, Bird River Bible Camp, LaBonet, Manitoba, Canada, and done carpentry missions with the New Life Baptist Association.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Alan and Gloria DeMeza Poole, his first wife, Carol Sharon Rudd, in 1999, his daughter, Kathy Newman and his son, Robert Miller.

He married Nancy Stienbrink Byous Lee-Poole on March 29, 2002 in Harlan, KY, she survives of the home.

Pete is also survived by his children, Vicki Allgood, St. Joseph, MO. Lynn and husband Steven Hill, Ogden, UT, Gary and wife Kim Miller, Ogden, UT. Grandchildren, Shawn, Christopher & Sheridan Allgood, St. Joseph, Raylyn and husband Adam Nelson, Ogden UT, Jared and wife Tanya Hill, Providence UT, Bob and wife Becky Miller, Kansas City, MO. And 13 great grandchildren.

Pete has been cremated, his ashes will be scattered in Dighton, MA. A memorial visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Shepherds Kitchen of the First Presbyterian Church, Maryville, or the American Red Cross, Midland Empire Chapter.
