Maryville - Dean Edward Gingrich, 90, of Maryville and formerly of Barnard, MO passed from this life on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the Golden Living Center, Maryville.

Born on January 3, 1919 in Maryville, he was the son of Edward & Matilda (Neidel) Gingrich. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean (Maxon) Gingrich on May 2, 2000.

He was a self-employed farmer and a member of the Guilford United Methodist Church.

He was a WW II Veteran serving in the US Army and was awarded the bronze star and the good conduct
medal.

Mr. Gingrich was among the first group of Army draftees from Nodaway County following the bombing of Pearl Harbor. His Mechanized Unit arrived in Germany in May of 1945 when the US and Russian armies liberated Berlin. He was discharged in December of 1945.

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Gingrich, Skidmore, MO, sister-in-law, Helen Gingrich, Maryville, nephew, Robert D. Gingrich, Overland Park, KS, great nephews, Robert Gingrich, Jr., Overland Park, KS, James Gingrich, Escondido, CA, John Gingrich, Kansas City, MO, Tim Gingrich, Kansas City, MO, Bill Maxon and Bradford Maxon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jean, and brother, Harold Gingrich.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, August 3, 2009 at the Danfelt Funeral Home, 951 S. Main Street, Maryville, MO 64468. Final Resting Place will be in the Miriam Cemetery, Maryville with military honors.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 P.M. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
