Donald Elmer Nielson

Barnard - Donald Elmer Nielson, 78, of Barnard, passed from this life on Monday, May 5, 2008 at the St. Francis Hospital.

Born on May 28, 1929 in Guilford, Missouri he was the son of James Peter & Blanche R. (Mattson) Nielson.
Donald was a 1947 graduate of Guilford High School and was a Veteran serving in the US Army duing the Korean War. Donald was a self-employed farmer and a member of the Barnard United Methodist Church, National Farmers Organization and the Barnard American Legion.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Alice Gertrude (Terhune) Nielson of the home, son, Allen Nielson (Sheila), Guilford, MO, daughter, Diane Nielson, Atchinson, KS, Son, David Nielson, Conception Junction, MO, Darren Nielson, Scotts Bluff, NE and Dennis Nielson (Tammy), Guilford, MO, three sisters, Mary Betty, Topeka, KS and Maxine Seuell, Wheeling, MO, and Anna Louise Wolf, Barnard, MO, a brother, Glen Nielson, Maryville, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Emmett Nielson, Albert Nielson, a sister, Alice Graf.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the Barnard United Methodist Church. Final Resting Place the American Legion Cemetery, Barnard. The family will receive friends at the Danfelt Funeral Home, 951 S. Main Street, Maryville, MO 64468 on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. Memorial donations may be made to Barnard United Methodist Church.
