Maryville - Helen Gertrude Shackelford, 91, of Maryville, passed from this life on, Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at the Nodaway Nursing Home.

Born on December 7, 1915 in Rockport she was the daughter of the late P.W. & Edith Lillian (Curry) Holliway.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Burlington Jct., Missouri.
She attended school all 12 years at Rock Port, Missouri. She attended Tarkio College, Tarkio, Missouri, for 4 years. She taught shorthand, bookkeeping, and typing at the Burlington Junction High School for 23 years. She was also the secretary to the School Superintendent and Board of Education for 12 years.

She was united in marriage to Frederick Staples in 1938. To this union was born on daughter, Carol Jean. Frederick passed in 1948.

Gertrude was united in marriage to Harold Lee Howell in 1953. He passed in 1983.
She was united in marriage to Ellis Shackelford on July 13, 1992 in Maryville.
She was a member of clubs and was the contact lady for the OATS Bus in Burlington for a number of years. She loved her home and flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Frederick, second husband, Harold, and a brother, Paul Holliway.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Ellis Shackelford of the home, daughter, Carol Jean Staples Churchill and husband, Robert, Madison, AL, grandchildren, Deborah Brown and husband Robert, Kathryn Falgout and husband Patrick, Michael Churchill and Chris, David Churchill and wife Connie, great grandchildren, Christopher & Lauren Brown, Robert Falgout, Kaitlyn Churchill, Emily & Sarah Churchill.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at the Ohio Cemetery, Burlington Junction, MO with the Rev. James L. Lawson, Officiating. There will be no evening visitation or viewing but friends may call at the Danfelt Funeral Home, 951 S. Main Street, Maryville, MO 64468 on Friday from 9 to 5 P.M. Memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church of Burlington Junction.
