Gordon Stillman Monk

Maryville - Gordon S. Monk, 79, of Maryville, passed from this life on Friday, December 28, 2007 at Parkdale Manor Care Center after a long battle with cancer.

Born on June 25, 1928 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, to the late Stillman and Lena (Cousineau) Monk.

Gordon lived quite a varied life and had various occupations, a minister, teacher, social worker, college professor and an optician. He was a member of the Lions Club both Bethany and Maryville. He enjoyed telling stories, working in his flower gardens and feeding the birds.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lois Mae (Heiniger) Monk, a son, David Monk and wife Julie, St. Joseph, daughters, Kathy Breen, and husband Robert, Bethany, and Sharon Monk, Maryville, brother, George Monk, sister, Judy Wareham and husband Vic, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Emma and brother, Sidney.

His body has been bequeathed to science. There will be no services or visitation.
