Norma V. Colter Auxier

Norma V. Colter Auxier, 95, passed away in Springfield, MO on November 21, 2007, after a brief illness at St. John's Hospital.

Norma was born October 29, 1912, at Stanberry, MO, the daughter of Elbert V. and Myra M. Short. She began her schooling in Stanberry and later moved with the family to Maryville, MO where she graduated from high school.

In 1935, she was united in marriage to Orval O. Colter, and to this union was born a son and a daughter. In 1945, they purchased a farm in the Ravenwood, MO community where Norma was active in the Gallagher Extension Club for many years and was a member of the Ravenwood Methodist Church. She and Orval shared 31 years together before he passed away in 1966.

In 1970, Norma was united in marriage to Milo McClurg, and they moved to Maryville where they resided until his death in 1977.

Norma worked at the Northwest Missouri State College for three and a half years and at the Washington Junior High School for two years. She was also briefly employed by Schmidt Real Estate. She was an avid quilter, an excellent cook, a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all.

Norma is survived by her son Richard (wife Joyce) Colter of Springfield, MO and her daughter Marla (husband Roger) Cripe of Lewistown, MT; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Walter Short of Maryville. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Allen Short; and her husbands.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at the Danfelt Funeral Home, 951 S. Main Street, Maryville, Missouri 64468 with the Rev. Paul McKim, Officiating. Final Resting Place will be in the Nodaway Memorial Gardens. There will be no evening visitation, however the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 to 2 P.M. on Saturday.
