Mr. Olin F. “Farmer” Derry, Jr., 63, of Maryville, MO. Passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at his home in Maryville. Born August 13, 1944 in Princeton, MO. to Olin F. Sr. and Velma Gladys Mason Derry, he had been a resident of Maryville for the past 23 years. Olin was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Neta, in 1995.
Olin was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force and had flown troop transport planes during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the Maryville Elks Lodge #760, and had served as a Trustee and Leading Knight in the Lodge. He was also a former member of the Maryville Country Club. Olin had been the Area Director for 17 Counties for the Division of Family Services, State of Missouri, retiring in 1998 after 32 years of service.
He was a avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors.
Olin graduated from the Princeton MO. High School. He graduated with a B.S. degree from Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, MO. And later earned his Masters Degree from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Indiana.
Survivors include his wife Phyllis, whom he married in Maryville, MO in 2001. His daughter: Shawna Derry, Kansas City, MO. Step-Children: Sgt. Travis Turner, Maryville, MO and Sara Turner, Kansas City, MO. 2 Grand Children: Collin Turner, and Amarianna Tyson, both of Kansas City, MO.
Celebration of Life: 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Bram Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Princeton, Missouri Cemetery. Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday, at the Bram Funeral Home. Rev. Paul McKim will be the Officiant. Military Honors at the Cemetery under the auspices of the Princeton V.F.W. Memorial Post #7159. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Olin Derry Memorial Fund at Mozingo Lake.
