Terry E. Garnett

Terry Eugene Garnett, 64, of Maryville, MO passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at North Care Hospice at North Kansas City Hospital with his family at his side.

Terry was born on February 20, 1952, in Elkhart, KS, his parents were Lewis Henderson and June Marlene (Garnett) Sowards. He was preceded in death by his father.

Terry married Marjorie Irene Smith on February 9, 1979, in Savannah, MO. Terry and Marjorie have been residents of Maryville, MO for the last thirty-eight years.

Terry retired after working for over twenty years at Nelson's Plumbing, Maryville. Before working at Nelson's, he worked as a diesel mechanic and owned his own diesel shop in Maryville. Terry was actively involved in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He was a classic car enthusiast where he enjoyed showing his 1948 Plymouth Coupe. Terry also enjoyed spending time with his nine grandchildren.

Survivors include Terry's wife, Marjorie Garnett; his four children, Carrie (Moussa) Diallo, and grandchildren Aisha, Malik, and Mariam, Kansas City, MO; Shane Garnett and girlfriend Makaya Geagley, and grandchildren Ryan, Breonna, Shyanne, Shane Jr, and Jasmine, Hopkins, MO; Derrick Garnett, and granddaughter Audrey, Maryville, MO; and Stacey Garnett and fiancée Drew Leapley, Kansas City, MO; his mother, June Sowards, Barnard, MO and his mother-in-law Donna Smith, Maryville, MO; his siblings, Janice Sowards, St. Joseph, MO; Lewis (Patricia) Sowards Jr, Maryville, MO; Keith (Sheila) Sowards, Barnard, MO; Betty (David) Ramseier, St. Joseph, MO; eight nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Bentley Rae.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday January 12, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Maryville MO, with burial to follow in the St. Patrick's Cemetery, also of Maryville.

A prayer service will be held at 6:00 PM, on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, with the visitation to follow until 8:00 PM.
