G. Kurby Weldon, 61, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Friday, July 15, 2016, at the Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville, with his family at his side.
Kurby was born on November 25, 1954, in Maryville, MO. His parents are George Calvin Weldon and Helen Marie Stanton Weldon. He was a resident of this area all his life.
He graduated from Nodaway Holt High School in 1973, and got his diploma in H.V.A.C. in Omaha, NE. For the past 35 years he owned and operated Weldon's Tree Service in the area.
Kurby was of the Methodist faith. He was a former Maryville Jaycee member, and member of the Elk's Lodge #760, Maryville. In the 70's and 80's, Kurby enjoyed racing at the Thunder Valley Speedway in Bethany. He was an amazing left handed archery shooter and once took 8th in the Nationals in Omaha, NE. He enjoyed bowling and liked to hunt and fish, and passed that skill to his children and grandchildren.
On June 7, 1975, Kurby was united in marriage to Vickie Lee VanSickle, at the First United Methodist Church in Maryville. She survives of the home.
He is also survived by his 2 children, Amy (Brad) Wolf, Barnard, MO, and Adam (Sherra) Weldon, Maryville, MO; 7 grandchildren, Layla, Micah, Hadley, and Zoey Wolf, and Addison, Brinslee, and Harper Weldon; his father, George (Eldora) Weldon, Graham, MO; his mother, Helen Weldon, Maryville, MO; and his sister Wanda Knauer, Ft. Collins, CO.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. The burial will follow in the Prairie Home Cemetery, Graham, MO.
The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 PM, Monday, July 18, 2016, at the funeral home.
