Izetta Ann Koehler Castillo, 88, of Maryville, Mo passed away in Parkdale Manor on Saturday, June 18, 2016. Izetta was born in St. Louis, MO, on November 27, 1927, to Oscar and Maude (Squire) Koehler. She graduated in 1945 from Clarinda High School in Clarinda, IA. After graduation she moved to California to work in the Jet Propulsion Plant. She then returned to Clarinda and worked at JC Penney. She subsequently moved to Ottumwa, IA and graduated from Business School.
On July 10th, 1949, she married Floyd Castillo, Jr. (“Junior”) in St Clara’s Catholic Church in Clarinda, IA. The couple moved to Elmo to farm and start their family. Izetta worked as a Bookkeeper for Elmo MFA for several years and she was a member of the first Rescue Squad in Nodaway County.
Together, Izetta and Junior had 6 children, Stephen Castillo, Clarinda IA; Beth Castillo, Savannah MO; Jack Castillo, Liberty MO; Kris (Pat) Castillo, Maryville MO; Jon (Jill) Castillo, Burlington Jct. MO; Joseph (Brenda) Castillo, Platte City MO.
Grandchildren are Tate (Melissa) Castillo, Stephani (Ben) Widmer, Seth (Kylee) Castillo, Thad (Amber) Castillo, Shawna Castillo, Holly (Aaron) McCoppin, Jamie (Caroline) Hare, Brent (Moira) Castillo, Kelli Castillo, Ryan (Mary) Castillo, Devin (Mike) Colfelt, Joshua (Keri) Castillo, Darci (Heath) Henry, Andrew Castillo, Jacob Castillo, Brent Roach, and Erica (Brad) Hodge. Izetta also has 23 great grandchildren.
Izetta was preceded in death by her husband, Junior, on January 9, 1999; her parents Maude and Oscar Koehler; 4 sisters, Nancy Laughlin, Doris Sheridan, Mary Gay, and Bertha Koehler; her mother-in-law Cleta Castillo and father-in-law Floyd Castillo, Sr., sister-in-law Kathryn Castillo, and her precious infant great grandson Taylor Jon Castillo.
A Rosary service will be said at 6:00 PM, on Monday, June 20, 2016, prior to visitation services from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, at Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home in Maryville MO. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at St Benedicts Catholic Church, in Burlington Jct. MO.
Flowers are appreciated or memorial donations may be made in Izetta’s name to the AseraCare Hospice or the Elmo Community Betterment Club.
