Artis J. Foster

Artis Joye Foster, 84, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Parkdale Manor Nursing Home in Maryville.

Artis was born in Barnard, MO, on February 24, 1932. Her parents were Archie and Mertie Ellen (Jasper) Hubbell. They preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her 3 brothers, Victor, Cleo, and Melvin Hubbell.

Artis grew up in Barnard. She graduated high school in 1950 from Ravenwood High. Later she attended Chillicothe Business College.

She worked at Platte Valley Bank in Ravenwood, MO, then Gray Insurance in Maryville until her marriage.

She and Fred L. Foster were united in marriage on June 14, 1953, at the First Christian Church in Maryville. He survives of the home.

Artis was a homemaker and real estate broker. She enjoyed family and friends, dancing, the Rosanna Chapter of OES, water skiing, bowling, bridge, painting and showing roses.

She was an accredited horticulture and arrangement judge with the American Rose Society, winning awards for arrangements nationwide. She won 157 certificates, 51 of them were gold.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Maryville.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her childreen, Kris (Ron) Mavity, Maryville, Bill (Janet) Foster, Maryville, Mike (Dianne) Foster, Parker, Colorado; three grandchildren, Brandon (Christin) Foster, Trimble, Kate, Bakko (Chris Cummins) Maryville, Elliot Foster, Maryville; four great grandchildren, Mason, Noah, And Allie, Trimble, and Cecelia Joye, Maryville. Cece was named after her great grandmother Artis Joye.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the First Presbyterian Church, Maryville, inurnment will be later at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Maryville. No formal visitation is planned.
