Betty Jeanne McKee, 86, of Hopkins, MO, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at her home in Hopkins, with family by her side.
Betty was born on January 16, 1930, in Bolckow, MO. Her parents were Ernest Edwin (Bill) and Mable Louise (Kidd) Smith. They preceded her in death.
Betty loved to watch and listen to all sports, to work in her yard, and once won the Hopkins Beautification award. Years ago she kept a huge garden, with many strawberry plants. Her yard had a pet goose and she was strict about no snapping turtles.
On March 14, 1947, Betty was united in marriage to Gale (Hoover) McKee, in Maryville, MO. He passed away on April 28, 2009.
In her younger years she was active in the Order of the Eastern Star, Hopkins Chapter 401. And was twice Worthy Matron, in 1966, and again in 1984, with her son Mike as Worthy Patron
Betty owned and operated the 66 Restaurant in Hopkins, and later she and her husband owned and operated the Hopkins Service Center for 25 years.
Her survivors include her son, Mike (Teresa) McKee, Hopkins, MO; 3 grandchildren, Kathryn (Danny) Wray, Maryville, MO, Kyle (Tiana) McKee, Gravity, IA, and Klinton McKee, (and friend Rachael) Maryville, MO; 4 great granddaughters, Brycelynn and Alanis Wray, Maryville, and Kenady and Rylee McKee, Gravity, IA.
Private family memorial service will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016, in First Baptist Church, Hopkins, MO.
Services are under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorial can be sent to the SSM Hospice, Maryville, MO.
