Esther Jean Wiley

September 6, 1922 — March 4, 2016

Esther Jean (Hall) Wiley lived an active, strong and full life. She derived great pleasure from her family, church family and friends.

Born September 6, 1922 in Wilcox, Missouri where she grew up. She got a teaching certificate from the Maryville Teacher’s College in Maryville, MO.

She married Edward Dale Wiley in 1944. After moving to Sumas, Washington to work on dairy farms, their hard work allowed them to purchase cattle of their own and land in Quitman, Missouri. For more than 30 years they established their home there on in excess of 200 acres of land.

Esther helped with the daily demands of a dairy farm, gardened and with her husband, raised five children. She was a devoted wife and mother who modeled devotion and a strong work ethic.

A member of the Maryville United Methodist Church, she enjoyed helping at events such as their annual fall festival, as well as cooking and contributing for other various events.

She enjoyed the company of friends and was a member of the Shell Grove Club, Bell Grove Club and Women’s Circle.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Brice Hall and Harold Hall; her husband, Edward Dale (7-30-11); son, Mark (7-25-11) and a grandson, Jacob Wiley (3-24-05).

Survivors include children: Marlene Mowry, Severence, Kansas; Kurby Wiley, Buford, Georgia; Patricia Latall, Nixa, Missouri; and Anita Dickey, Overland Park, Kansas. Grandchildren: Lynette Huscher, Sharla Andres, John Mowry, Troy Wiley, Brandt Wiley, Heather Oslin, Jeremy Wiley, Jonathan Wiley, David Wiley, Aimee Wiley, Christopher Wiley, Jaci Newman, Grant Runde, Philip Dickey and Erica Murphy. She was blessed with 17 great grandchildren at the time of her passing.

She died in the company of family and friends at her home. Her strength of character, prayers and good cooking will be missed by all who knew her great abilities.

Those wishing to celebrate her life may join the family at Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home Monday, March 7, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. A Order of Eastern Star service will follow the visitation at 8:00 under the auspices of the O.E.S. Rosanna Chapter #262, Maryville, MO; or the funeral service at the First United Methodist Church in Maryville, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 8th, 2016. The burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Maryville, MO.
