Kenneth Duane Guthrie

Kenneth Duane Guthrie, 93, of Clearmont, MO, passed away Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Nodaway Nursing Home.
Kenneth was born February 9, 1922 in Braddyville,IA. His parents were Vernon Cecil Guthrie, and his mother was Mabel (Moses)-Beery. They preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one daughter Diane Miller and his son-in law S.C. Miller.
He was a graduate of Braddyville High School. He served his country during WWII in the United States Navy. His years of service were 1943 till 1945.
He married Thelma Fishell , on May 11, 1941, in Maryville, MO. They were life long residents of Clearmont, MO.
He was the Clearmont, MO postmaster, until 1986 , serving for 42 years. His memberships included ; a member of the Clearmont United Methodist Church, former member of the Lions Club, he was also a Mason. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Burlinton Jct. He was the Clearmont, MO mayor for a time. He also served on the Clearmont, MO housing authority.
His passion was raising appaloosa horses. He refurbished player pianos. He loved spending time with his many grandchildren.
His survivors included his children , Dennis , and wife Phyllis Roberts Guthrie, Clearmont, MO, Lon, and wife Enid Larbey Guthrie of Perigueux, France, Lanny, and wife Kris Alexander Guthrie, Clearmont, MO, Richard Guthrie , Excelsior Springs, MO, Christina, and husband Michael Gasper,Jr. of Gibsonia, PA, Dawn Denise, and husband Chris Malone, Sterling, NE; 15 grandchildren, Samual Cres III, and wife Stacey Jolliffe Miller, Urbana, MO, Cynthia, and husband Brian Witsken, West Harrison, OH, Deborah Miller, Gladstone, MO, Michael, and wife Andrea Guthrie, Columbia, MO, Michele Guthrie, Maryville, MO, Alisa, and husband Rob Meyer, Burlington Junction, MO, Nathan, and wife Ashley Winget Guthrie, Maryville, MO, Brandon Guthrie, Kansas City, MO, Jason Guthrie, Maryville, MO, Tiffany Guthrie, Denver, CO, Michael, and wife Lindsay Turner, Gasper, TX, Brandi, and husband Matthew Kaplan, Hershey, PA, Colby Malone, Syracuse, NE, Connor, and Ceaton Malone, Lincoln, NE; step granchildren, Charity, Rebecca and Jonathan Greene, Excelsior Springs, MO; 9 great-grandchildren, Samuel C. Miller IV, Urbana, MO, Laura Adkins, Maryville, MO, Tyler Stoll, Maryville, MO , Kelsey and Trevor Meyer, Burlington Junction, MO, Malina Guthrie, Columbia, MO, Rowyn Elizabeth Guthrie, Maryville, MO, Peyton and Bryce Gasper, Dallas, TX, and Grayson Kaplan, Hershey, PA; one step great grandchild, Roth Livingston, Urbana, MO.
A graveside service will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Clearmont, MO.
The family will meet with friends from 6-8:00 PM, Monday, January 11, 2016, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home.
