Norma Jean Pennington

Norma Jean Pennington, 82, of Maryville, MO, formerly of Hamburg, IA, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015, in Maryville.

Norma was born in Tina, MO, on June 6, 1933, to Gerald and Letha (Twitty) Pennington. They moved to the Westboro, MO, area and then to Hamburg, IA. Her parents preceded her in death.
Norma attended country school and graduated from Hamburg High School, class of 1951.

She started working for Mutual of Omaha after graduation and was with the company for 37 years. After retiring for 2 weeks, she began working for Citizens Bank and spent 26 years with them, through all their changes.

Norma Loved bowling and bowled in the Nebraska State Tournament for 20 consecutive years. She also enjoyed traveling and putting together trips for the banks Gold Club. She was an avid Huskers fan, and traveled as far as Hawaii to watch them play. Norma took great pride in maintaining the Hamburg Alumni Association, and planning the yearly banquets.

She was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church in Hamburg. She loved her friends and family, especially her 3 grandkids.
Norma developed Alzheimers in 2012 and was admitted to Golden Living Center in Maryville, MO. She passed there on Thursday, December 17, 2015.

She is survived by her son, Jeff Pennington and wife Erika, of Macks Creek, MO; and by 3 grandsons, Aidan, Carson, and Brennan, of Macks Creek; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Norma’s body has been cremated under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.

Memorial services are planned in May at the Mount Olive Cemetery, Hamburg, Iowa. No formal visitation is planned. Friends may stop by the funeral home to sign her register book.

Memorial contributions can be directed to the Hamburg Iowa Alumni Association, or to the Hamburg Iowa Rescue Squad.
