Irene Palmer, 88, of Barnard, MO, passed from this life on Thursday, November 05, 2015, at the Golden Living Center, Maryville, MO.
Irene was born Beulah Irene Monday on March 11, 1927, in Allendale, MO, to Lester and Gladys (Hendrickson) Monday. She lived in that area until moving west of Barnard in 1952.
She graduated from the Mount Ayr Iowa High School. She had worked at the Telephone Office, then the Light and Power company, both of Maryville, MO. She had been the secretary at the MFA in Barnard, MO, then the Guilford, MO office, then did the books at the BPO Feed and Grain, in Barnard.
She liked to sew and took in sewing in her home, and had also made costumes for the Theater Department at NWMSU in Maryville.
On March 13, 1952, at the First United Methodist Church in Maryville, Irene was united in marriage to Wendell F. Palmer. They have lived on the same farm since 1952.
Her memberships included the Barnard Christian Church, the Barnard American Legion Auxiliary, and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, Bonnie Durham, and Marilyn K. Lindley, 2 sister in laws, Mary Louise Reardon, and Loberta Palmer; and 3 brother in laws, Jack Patterson, Max Hill, and Dave Reardon.
She is survived by her husband, Wendell F. Palmer, of the home, Barnard, MO; 3 children, David L. (Sally) Palmer, Bolckow, MO, Kathy Ann (Galen) Stoll, Bolckow, MO, and Ricky F. (Mary) Palmer, Stanberry, MO, and Jake, the family dog, of the home; sister, Ruth Hill, Ellenwood, KS, and brother, J.A. (Marilyn) Monday, Oahu, Hawaii; 8 grandchildren, Brandon (Kelby) Palmer, Bolckow, MO, Nathan (Carrissa) Palmer, Maryville, MO, Kara (Shannon) Holaday, Columbia, MO, Karla (David) Burnett, Savannah, MO, Justin (Kristine) Palmer, Barnard, MO, Katie (Jason) Thomas, Stanberry, MO, Jared Palmer, Stanberry, MO. Kellie Palmer, Stanberry, MO; 5 great grandchildren, Kendra Holaday, Jordyn Burnett, Kinley Palmer, Korbin Palmer, and Skarlett Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation has been completed. Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM. Monday, November 9, 2015, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO, casual dress is requested. The burial will follow in the Barnard American Legion Cemetery, Barnard, MO.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM, Sunday, November 8, 2015, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home.
