Helen Jean Poppa

Helen J. Poppa, 85, of Maryville, MO passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2015, at the Golden Living Center, Maryville.

Helen was born on February 3, 1930, in Maryville, her parents were Grover and Goldie (Sampson) Fleenor. She had resided in Maryville her entire life.

Helen had worked many years at the former Fisher Cleaners, Maryville, and had attended the Laura Street Baptist Church, Maryville.

On July 6, 1946, Helen was united in marriage to Alvin L. Poppa. He preceded her in death on September 5, 2010. She was also preceded by her parents; her brother, Cody Grimes, 2 sisters, Ruth Dredge, and Gertrude Lee, and her grandson, Jesse Scott.

Her survivors include her 3 children, Gene (Gail) Poppa, Maryville, Boda (Robbie) Scott, Maryville, and Danny (Gina) Poppa, Oklahoma City, OK; brother, Monty (Jeri) Fleenor, Rea, MO, 8 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Poppa has been cremated.

Memorial graveside services and burial will be at 10:00 AM, on Thursday, October 29, 2015, at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Maryville. Pastor Paul McKim will be the officiant.

No formal visitation is planned.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
