Erika Shewey, 76, of Skidmore, MO, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at her home in Skidmore.

Erika was born on July 2, 1939, in Mannhiem-Rheinau, Germany. Her parents were Karl F. and Anna Maria (Jacob) Gehrig. They preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her son Kenneth Karl Shewey, in 1963; 3 brothers, Karl, Rudi, and Kurt Gehrig; and 3 sisters Paula Stapf, and two of her triplet sisters, Ursula and Gisela Gehrig.

Erika was a high school graduate in Germany prior to meeting her future husband, Kenneth L. Shewey, Sr, they were married in Mannheim Germany, on October 23, 1959.

Erika and Kenneth moved to Quitman, MO, in February 1960, then to Fort Riley, KS, before moving back to Quitman in 1965. Erika became a US Citizen on October 4, 1965. They moved to Skidmore in 1969.

She was a member of the Skidmore Christian Church. She loved cooking German Food, crocheting, light houses, camping at the lake and hunting.

Her survivors include her husband, Kenneth L. Shewey, Sr., of the home, Skidmore, MO; 3 children, Christiane (Arthur) Mack, Skidmore, Mary (Rick) Stanton, Skidmore, and Kenneth L. (Tracy) Shewey, Jr., Skidmore; 1 sister, Ruth Schlecht, Bruhl, Germany; 6 grandchildren, Melissa Ebrecht, Teresa (Steven) Lawson, Jasmaine Motley, Alexandria and Cody Shewey, and Tillie Stanton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 16, 2015, at the Skidmore Christian Church. The burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Skidmore, MO. The minister will be Rev. Al Hamon.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM, Thursday, October 15, 2015, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Skidmore Christian Church, or the Tri City Friendship Center, Maitland, MO.
