James R. Holbrook

James Robert “Uno” Holbrook, 64, of Skidmore, MO, was born to Doris L. Curry (Allen) and Robert L. Holbrook, in Maryville, MO, and peacefully passed September 13, 2015, at his home south of Quitman, MO.

Jim graduated from Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, MO, and served his country as a Sharpshooter in the Vietnam War in the US Army/Fort Dix, earning the National Defense Service Medal.

A retired Locomotive Engineer from BNSF Railway, Jim later worked as a long-haul truck driver. He enjoyed his free time with his beloved horses, and especially loved the company of his cherished friends.

Survived by loving sisters Deborah Holbrook of Maryville; Sherrie Hamann (Harvey) of Colorado Springs, CO; and Pamela Gutierrez (Mark) of Omaha, NE; nieces, nephew, Aunts, cousins, and former spouse, Theresa Riley, of Maryville, and her daughters Shelley and Christy McGinnis.

Our hearts are broken – Jim will be treasured, always, by his family and friends.

A memorial gathering for Jim is pending. Cremation services were handled through the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.

Memorial donations may be left at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home in Maryville and will be directed to the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System Infusion Center, where Jim received such extraordinary care.
