Franklin G. Hardy

Franklin Gene Hardy, 81, of Maitland, MO, passed away Friday, August 14, 2015, at the Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville, MO.

Franklin was born near Maitland on March 2, 1934. His parents were Buren Jefferson and Rachel May (Wellington) Hardy, and preceded him in death. He was also preceded by 2 children, Billy Wayne Hardy, in 1957, and Rachel Louann Hardy, in 1963.

Franklin was a lifelong resident of the area, and graduated Salutatorian of his class at the Maitland High School. He was a member of the Skidmore Christian Church, Skidmore, MO. He served his country in the Missouri Army National Guard.

For over 50 years Franklin worked for Holt County, Missouri. He retired as the County Road Supervisor, and has a bridge named after him in honor of his service. In his spare time he loved to garden.

On June 15, 1957, in Maitland, Franklin was united in marriage to Donna Merlene McCurry, she survives of the home.

He is also survived by his children, Bob (Mandy) Hardy, Yellville, AR, David (Connie) Hardy, Downs, KS, Jim (Laurie) Hardy, Omaha, NE, Tony Hardy, Springfield, MO, Terry (Lisa) Hardy, Marshfield, MO, Stacey (Casey Keith) Hardy, Gower, MO, Crystal (Jeremy) Wenger, Maitland, MO, Louis (Julia) Hardy, Wilksboro, NC, Brandon Hardy, Savannah, MO, and Stephanie Hardy, Maryville, MO; brother, Buren Eldon (Kay) Hardy, Omaha, NE; 23 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at the Skidmore Christian Church, Skidmore, MO. The burial will follow in the Maitland Missouri Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM, Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. At 7:00 PM during the visitation there will be a tribute time of reflection and celebration of Franklin’s life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in Franklin’s name to the Skidmore Christian Church, Skidmore, MO.
