David R. Gillenwater

David R. Gillenwater, 68, of Bolckow, MO, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2015, at Mosaic Life Care, St. Joseph, MO.

Dave was born on November 11, 1946, in Chicago, IL. His parents were David Rolfe and Maxine Buckler and preceded him in death. He graduated from high school in Chicago and had attended college there. He had previously lived in Kansas City, MO, the Overland Park, KS area, and North Kansas City, prior to moving to Bolckow.

Dave was a delivery man and driver for UPS in the Kansas City Missouri area for many years. He later raised cattle and horses on the family farm near Bolckow. He was a member of the Barnard Christian Church, former member of the Teamster Union in Kansas City, and the Barnard Saddle Club. He loved the Kansas City Royals, and attending the grandchildren’s sporting events.

On July 15, 1979, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Grace Baird, in Barnard, MO, she survives of the home.

Other survivors include his children, Kay Sadler, Smithville, MO, Robbie (Rick) Beck, Barnard, MO, Annie (Don) Townsend, Maryville, MO, and Jane (Lloyd) Jackson, Bolckow, MO; cousin, Danny Broyles, Glade Spring, VA; 5 grandchildren, Allisha Beck, Shawn Beck, Justin Jackson, Sami Jackson, and Lindsi Jackson; and 9 great grandchildren.

Mr. Gillenwater has been cremated under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.

Visitation from 1-2 PM with Memorial services following at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 9, 2015, at the Barnard Christian Church, Barnard, MO. The inurnment will be at a later date in the Barnard American Legion Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Barnard Christian Church.
