Lewis W. Smail, 83, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Mosiac Life Care in St. Joseph, MO.

Lewis was born on October 13, 1931, on the family farm near Pickering, MO, his parents were Eugene H. and Mildred J. (Simmons) Smail. He graduated from Horace Mann High School in Maryville, in 1949.

A Korean Conflict veteran, Lewis proudly served his country in the US Army, and the Army Reserves.

Lewis was the owner operator of Smails Service Station in Maryville for many years. He later went to work for Energizer, and retired in 1997, after 17 years. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He enjoyed fishing and liked to hunt rocks. He also enjoyed making and giving away marbles.

On April 28, 1956, he was united in marriage to Nadine Ruth Rosenquist, at the home of Rev. L.B. Day, in Maryville; she survives of the home.

Other survivors include his children, Cindy (Roger) Peter, Maryville, Tracy Smail, and companion, Julie Volner, Maryville, Vicki (Donnie) Meyer, Maryville, and Kirby (Robin) Smail, Pella, IA; brothers, Leslie (Lavon) Smail, Maryville, Jerry (Janie) Smail, Maryville, Bob Smail, Maryville, John (Barb) Smail, St. Joseph, MO, Charlie (Linda) Smail, Skidmore, MO; sisters, Sharon (Ted) Reynolds, St. Joseph, Shirley (John) Kulak, St. Joseph, Carol Green, St. Joseph, and Peggy Smail, Quitman; 10 grandchildren, Becky Mires, Adam Peter, Vanessa Henry, Kyle Smail, USMC, Lisa May, Drew Burkey, Crystal Moore, Jared Meyer, Alex, Duncan and Delaney Smail, Emily, Mallory, Steven and Nicholas Pfalzgraf; 8 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 1, 2015, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. The burial will follow in the White Oak Cemetery, Pickering, MO. Pastor Paul McKim will be the minister. Military rites will be performed at the cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM, Thursday, April 30, 2015, at the funeral home.
