Mary Louella Wilmes, 68, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at Mosiac Life Care in St. Joseph, MO.

Mary Lou was born in Maryville, MO, on December 6, 1946, to Vilas Earl and Marie Luella (Sturm) Pope. She was a graduate of the former St. Patrick’s Grade School, and the former Mount Alverno High School, both of Maryville. Mary Lou was a lifelong resident of the Maryville area.

She was a Realtor with the Remax/Priority One Realty, Maryville, MO. She attended St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Maryville. Preceding her in death were her parents; brother in law, Gerald Foster, and sister in law, Marcella Pope.

On September 24, 1966, she was united in marriage to Carlos Francis Wilmes at the St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Maryville. He survives of the home.

Mary Lou is also survived by her 4 children, Alan (Holly) Wilmes, Kearney, MO, Joe (Sarah) Wilmes, Kearney, MO, Cris (Tara) Wilmes, Maryville, and Shelly (Kirby) Sybert, Maryville; her siblings, Kathleen Foster, Maryville, Robert (Martha) Pope, Maryville, Ruth Ann (Don) Stoll, Stanberry, MO, and Richard (Donna) Pope, Pickering, MO; 15 grandchildren, Heath, Alec and Hagen Wilmes, Kearney, MO, Brianna and Andrew Wilmes, Kearney, MO, Ashtyn (Drew) Wilson, St, Joseph, MO, Ben, Jessica, Dustyn, Tierry, Lori, Blaytyn, and Scooter Wilmes, Maryville, Trevor (Kaylee Merrigan) Sybert, Maryville, Jami (Michael) Hull, Bedford, IA; 3 great grandchildren, Adrian and Carter Hull, Bedford, IA, Brady Sybert, Maryville, and a special family member, Travis (Kourtney and son Blake) Casteel, Maryville; numerous nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 14, 2015, at the St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Maryville. The burial will follow in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Maryville.
The family rosary will be at 7:00 PM, on Thursday, February 12, 2015, at the St. Gregory’s Catholic Church. The parish rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM, on Friday, February 13, 2015, at the church, with visitation to follow until 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Carlos Wilmes family to establish a pay it forward program to assist people suffering with chemo treatments and their travel expenses.
